한인 문화회관에 위치한 시카고 어린이 무용단은 한국춤을 통하여 우리문화를 계승하고 전파하는데 앞장서며 주류및 한인사회의 다양한 문화행사에 참여하고 있습니다.

Chicago Korean Dance - Youth’s mission to develop Korean cultural heritage through various traditional dance performances with the fruition of connecting and uniting with other cultures in the age of globalism.

< Performances>

1.     화랑 Hwa-rang

화랑은 신라시대 학문과 무술을 겸비한 청소년 리더를 일컫는 말로 삼국통일의 어려운 시기에는 강한 무사도정신으로 국난을 극복하는 데 크게 기여한 청년 단체이다. 이 작품은  화랑의 모습을 상징화하여 창작한 작품이다.

Over 2000 years ago, the kingdom of Shilla was found, and they began the development of their own warrior system called “Hwa-rang”. Hwa-rang system was organized by groups of youth, who learned to develop human morality, loyalty and mental and emotional control along with their combat skills.

 

2.     장고춤 Jang-Go (Hourglass Drum) Dance

한국의 대표적인 악기인 장고를 메고 춤과 함께 한국의 다이나믹한 리듬을 느낄 수 있다,

The Jang-Go is a traditional Korean drum that is shaped like an hourglass. The Jang-Go can be played with a variety of pitches and timbre. Dancers dance with the drum slung over their shoulders, while playing the instrument simultaneously. One will feel satisfaction and cheerfulness, when making these various rhythms throughout the Jang-Go dance.

시카고 우리 음악프로젝트 푸리 Chicago Woori Music Project “ Puri” 

 

시카고 우리음악 프로젝트 ’푸리’ 는 미 중서부전통예술인협회 임원들로 구성되었으며  우리의 음악 전통가락, 장단, 발성, 몸짓으로 한국전통 국악기와  현대 양악기를 사용하여 국악과 창작 음악으로  한국 국악의 대중화, 현대화에 늘 앞장 서도록 노력하며 미국 속에 “한국의 얼” 을  일깨우고자 함

Chicago Woori Music Project “Puri” is a multicultural organization gathered in MidWest Korean Traditional Artist Association Member. Chicago woori Music Project “Puri” will initiate a new approach of cultural communication by introducing Traditional and Classical Korean music to the community.

We are dedicated to introduce our culture as well as to reconnect with Korean American youth and community.

<불타 예술단 Chicago Bulta Art Performing Dance School >

Chicago Bulta Art Performing School was established in Jul 4th, 2010 by Ven. Hyeonseong of Bultasa Buddhist Temple of Chicago. Goal of the school is introducing performing arts in Buddhism and Korean tradition as well as building a sense of historical spirit as Korean and inheriting Korean traditional culture to young generations. In this prospect Art Director, Eujean jung is teaching Korean traditional dances and music instruments to children in American and Korean community in order to emphasize the great values of Korean traditional culture and build up contemporary and future traditions of desirable Korean traditional culture and arts.

 

< Performances>

동방의 소리 Sound of “Land of morning Calm” 

북채  2개를 양손에 들고 북을 추면서 추는 춤이다. 강렬한 북 가락과 함께 다양하고 유연한 장구 가락을 동시에 갖고 있어 남성적인 힘과 여성적인 섬세함이 함께 어우러진 독특한 춤의 흥과 멋을 함축하는 매력이 일품이다.

This is an exciting dance that combines the delicate movements of women with the power of many drums, the sound growing deeper and louder as the performance progresses. The dance is an expression of joy and life.
